Uncover the vibrant spirit of queer migrants and refugees in Vienna as they move beyond borders of the past, triumph adversity in shifting landscapes, and forge their new path.
The Unbound documentary tells the raw stories of queer migrants and refugees in Vienna. These stories run parallel, as we follow them and show the stark contrast in viewing queer bodies within two gendered landscapes; the city and the countryside. This binary of landscapes serves to contrast the unbounded spirits that are housed in queer migrants and refugees, as they cross borders, and navigate a world that was not built to guarantee their existence.
All aspects of their true stories; from longing and belonging, as well as pain and joy should be celebrated. Raising awareness of the realities of queer migration and seeking refuge through an honest lens, by immersing the stories within their found vital network that welcomes them in their totality. Touching on issues of racism, gender identity and legal battles, in a time where migration and seeking refuge is of great prominence but also great contention.
Love lies at the beating heart of this journey; a love for oneself, a love for one's community, a love for others.
